Favorite things Saturday

As I am getting ready to head out for Relay Around Columbus, I was thinking about some of my favorite walking gear (or running for those of you who run) that I feel are a must have in my bag for the weekend.

I am breaking the "nothing new" on race day and trying out my new iFitness belt!  I was so excited when it arrived on Thursday as I hadn't gotten any communication that it was on its way!  Either way, its locked & loaded to be my BFF on the trails tonight!

Had to have one with a red zipper!

I've got 2 8 oz bottles on there - one will be full with water, one with Gatorade and it holds up to 6 GUs!  The nice part is there is a strap at the bottom to put your bib!  Now I don't have to find somewhere on the shirt to put the RAC bib!

Another staple for me is Aquaphor.  I had read on another blogger's blog that she used it not only after a race but before too!  I had used Glide before but not Aquaphor.  I've switched and I just love it.  Now since my first leg begins at 6PM, I won't be using it until much later today.

Almost time for a new jar!
Another thing that's in my bag, thanks to my friend Kim over at www.glutenfreeislife.com, is Topricin Foot cream.  Kim & I rode together to the Earth Day half back in April and when I had terrible foot pain after the race, she highly recommended it and gave me a sample she had!  I haven't had to use it a whole lot in a while because it works but its heading in the bag to help out any of my teammates who might need it!

That's a damn big sample! Thanks Kim!!
And the final item in my bag are Kitchen Sink Granola Bars from the best local baker ever - Sassafras Bakery.  I discovered these a few months back on a whim when I was ordering something else from her for Valentine's Day and now I can't get enough!  They pack 400 calories so they aren't for the faint of heart but with nut butters mixed in, they have the right mix to be an awesome recovery!  I'm bringing 3 to share with the team and hope that it gets Sassafras some more business!  YUM!

2 Cashew Butter & 1 Peanut Butter with either cherries or cranberries!

And the final thing I love for this race is our shirts!  Emily designed the logo for us and we picked some pretty awesome shirts for it at Fleet Feet!  Here is Mandy & Miss Avery showing them off for us:

Yeah, she is about to climb a mountain in 2 weeks!
Excited and nervous for the inaugural Relay Around Columbus!  Should be a fun night and I expect all of our plans will come together nicely!

Are you racing this weekend?

Have you done a Relay race before?
